nasi story

NASI: Malay and Indonesian word for ‘rice’...a uniting soul food.

NASI silver blossomed to life while travelling South East Asia, especially the enchanting country of Indonesia which became the muse for most of our designs.

Each piece is designed by Tamara Katz and handmade by local craftsmen in Indonesia. NASI fuses minimalist contemporary design with intricately wax carved miniatures to create a unique, sophisticated look for all occasions.

Always coming up with new creative ideas has been a passion of mine. I have always had an overactive imagination and find the only way for me to keep my mind stimulated is by creating and visually imagining an idea that I will develop in physical form if I feel it is worthwhile.

Being part of an artistic, ‘off- beat’ family and spending a lot of my life in my parents’ unique jewellery shop has made me realise the excitement I and others receive when looking at one- off, unusual pieces. From a young age I have kept items that I see as my personal treasure and love to look at them and remember why I fell in love with them in the first place.

Spending some time visiting South East Asia fulfilled a part of me that I will always be grateful of. I spent a period of that time in awe of Indonesia which I could only explain as a magical country. Its calming atmosphere and beautiful designs of nature ignited a creative spark inside of me that I had never been more sure about. I realised the piece of mind I had achieved out there was something so special I wanted to share it with others through my designs. NASI is based on the nature that can truly bring you a sense of calm if you take the time to connect with it in your own way. NASI fed my soul- let it feed yours.
